Our Approach in this work is directed by 3 core shifts to deconstruct structures that uphold oppressive practices against historically marginalized people:
Acknowledging History - An analysis of the largely untold history of this country and intentional erasure of Indigenous, Black and all People of Color’s stories is necessary to understand the historical and present day harms inherent in our society today.
Articulation through Centering Those Most Impacted- Setting the vision and naming aspirational values for racial equity, repair and a way forward in a manner that centers the voices of those who have been most deeply impacted by historical and present day harm requires deep commitment and ownership from the leadership level and throughout the organization. This is critical in setting the course for the future. This is too often the first step taken by organizations. Our effective approach begins with assessment as an objective and historical analysis of organizational culture.
Embracing Accountability - Building accountability systems that center groups closest to impact.
